10 x 10 - 14 x 10 - one head / shoulders only
16 x 12 - up to 2 head studies or one full bod7

20 x 16 / 22 x 16 - up to 4 studies or three full bodies
24 x 18 - up to 5 studies or four full bodies
24 x 20 and above - multiple combinations.

Sizes for pencil portraits

Our pencil portraits are drawn to fit the size of paper you have ordered. Head studies will have around a 2 inch space between the image and the edge of the paper. Portraits with backgrounds will be drawn with a 1 inch space around the edge of the paper. This will allow the framer to attach a mount / matt to the portrait and you will have gained the largest possible sized drawing on the size you have ordered.

The mount / matt and frame will need to be larger than the size of portrait you order. You can have any width of mount / matt for you portrait and if you have any specific requests, if we are framing your portrait, please let us know at the time of ordering.

We always provide a complimentary mount / matt and backing when we frame your portrait. Jane our framer has a professional mount / matt cutter and we trust her to choose the size and width of the mount / matt to go with the frame and the portrait.

Backgrounds in oils
Portraits in oils all come as standard with a mottled or tonal background which compliments the colouring and tones of the subject. If clients would prefer a scenic / grass background this is an optional extra.

• Scenic Backgrounds 24 x 20 - 40 x 30 = £160

Backgrounds in pencil
If you would like a background in pencil, it can either be a simple vignette for smaller sizes or a full landscape covering the entire paper. Sizes and prices are as follows, If you would like any help or advice with your backgrounds please email your photos for our professional opinion.

People in Pencil
If you are looking to have a portrait of your family with their pet, our pencil portraits the perfect medium. If you opt for our framing service, we always frame our pencil portraits under non reflective glass. Please use the the price guide in the main table above to calculate the cost of your portrait. A person in pencil would be £50 extra per person.

People in Oils
If you are looking to commission an oil portrait of a family member with their pet, there is nothing better than commissioning an oils on linen which can be handed down through generations. People take longer to portray than animals, please add £150 on top of the base price in the table above.

Framing is optional, however we can highly recommend our wonderful framer Jane who frames all of our portraits for us. Jane's framing workshop is in our next village so its very handy for us to pop and see her at any time. She has an excellent range of mouldings and will always meet our clients requests.

Pricing can be found in the main table above and stands for frames from 8 x 6 to 12 x 10 are £5.
