View our action painting of Express Shuttle a Greyhound Racing portrait by Nicholas Beall. It's not often that we get action poses to portray but this was a wonderful commission to accept. Challenging in that Nicholas wanted to not only capture the greyhound on the move, but also keep the portrait detailed. The dust and blurred background in the portrait was so important. Giving that feeling of movement and oil is the perfect medium for this. If you have an action photos of your greyhound, or you have a photo of your retired greyhound, chilling out on your sofa, we would love to portray them for you. Why not drop us a line with your photos. We would also love it if you shared our page via our social media buttons below too!
All of our clients get to see their portrait in development and we email and post photos of our portraits on our blog for clients to see. The photos below were just a handful of the stages our client saw during the oil painting creation of his greyhound racing portrait
Our client spent a long time getting the perfect photo of his greyhound racing, it was not an easy shot and he ended up having the help of a friend who was a professional photographer. Dedication and time is all that is needed to get a good photo of your Greyhound. Spend some time taking them out and about outside and keep snapping away and you will sure to come up with a photo that will work for a dog portrait.
Mike Gould contacted us in 2011 enquiring if we would paint him a Greyhound Racing Pet Portrait, as he had a greyhound called Express Shuttle he wanted to commission a painting of. Mike had taken a wonderful photo that Nicholas worked from which you can see below and asked Nicholas to paint Express Shuttle at 16 x 12 size. We are absolutely thrilled with the way this painting has come out, Nicholas' aim was to create movement in the greyhound, to really make it feel as though he was running along. This was achieved by the soft focus of the sand and the back legs of the dog. I have added some work in progress stages as Nicholas was painting the portrait and some close up photos of Nicks hand on the painting with his brush. You can really see here the wonderful depth of tone in the colour pallet. I took some photos of Nicholas and Mike when he visit our studio to collect everything. Mike ordered 10 prints for his friends and family and you can see a photo of all of these below too.
We took some photos of the Greyhound Racing portrait when it was framed. We use to provide prints of the portraits and you can see a photo of all of the prints below that our client ordered. our printer retired so we now provide clients with the original high resolution file if they would like to have their own prints made. This allows clients to have their portrait printed on a variety of different items if they wish.
Hi Melanie and Nicholas,
I can honestly say that since we started the "SHUTTLE" project it has been such a lovely process. We have never had a painting commissioned before and didn't know what to expect, let me say its been such a great experience! I have especially liked following the stages on your blog and Facebook. You have been so helpful for absolutely every stage! The final picture has left us speechless and we now just cant wait to collect it and show it off. Thank you both so much, I hope one day we are lucky enough to own another great dog like SHUTTLE and work with you again!
Love and best wishes, Michael and Rachel Gould
